GR 107
The GR107 is the Chemin des Bonshommes. It represents the path taken by the Cathars, a now-extinct religion, in their flight from the persecution of the Catholic Inquisition in France centuries ago. The trail leads from France into Spain, but we have always used these hikes as a way to explore France, so we took on the portion in France, from Foix to the Portella Blanca, the triple border between France, Spain, and Andorra.
Leaving Foix, the full impact of the Pyrenees mountains is not immediately felt. It takes time to move South and get up to higher altitudes. There are lots of beautiful mountains and valleys along the way, and we benefitted from many creeks and rivers which helped us to cool off in the August heat.
