Now it was really the last day on the trail. Of course, we knew that we had hiking to do in Andorra as well.

Leaving the site of our camp, we got back to climbing up the valley. It didn’t take long before the Portella Blanca came into view. We all made it there and took some pictures.

This marks the 6th French Grand Randonée which we have completed together as a family. This one was tough, especially at the beginning, but we fought through the adversity and worked on our attitudes to make it a better experience.

This brings our GR107 experience to end, but not our hiking. After enjoying our accomplishment and being in France, Spain, and Andorra all at once, we stepped into Andorra, a new country for all of us.

Following the GR7, we found the familiar cows seen all over the trail in France. Descending down a bit, we were soon climbing back up to our first big obstacle of the day.

Unsurprisingly, I was receiving a lot pf complaints about the continuation of our hiking. Personally, I loved exploring a new country, especially a relatively inaccessible place like Andorra, which has no commercial airport or train station.

Making it up to 2700 meters, higher than we had been in France, we were careful to avoid an accident, and descended back down the other side.

By the time we had gone all the way down to a dirt road just South of Grau Roig, I was thinking about the next and last big obstacle. The GR7 was going to lead us up over 2900 meters. From there we could descend all the way to Andorra la Vella, rhe capital. But getting up and down that mountain would be tough for us.

I decided to change the plan. We left the GR7, walked into Grau Roig, and then walked out to the highway. From there, we took an Andorran bus all the way to the capital.

Getting our clothing washed and some groceries, Alex booked a hotel room, and we went looking for it in La Massana. It was a bit more than I would have liked to pay, but we all got to shower for the first time on the trip, and relax in a bed.

I took the kids out to play, and we wound down our trip in Andorra the next day. Using pre-purchased tickets, we took a bus to Hospitalet-près-l’Andorre, where we caught the night train for Paris.
